Listing Information

Featuring an Endearing Roast of Chad’s Papa, Coach Lloyd Carr

Known for his voracious laugh and love of getting a rise out of his friends and family (he would declare, “I’m cheering for Michigan State”), Chad Carr would have loved to see his “Papa” — Lloyd Carr — endearingly teased by his own friends and former players.

It’s why the 2nd Annual Champions for Change Gala, co-chaired by Warde and Chrislan Manuel, will feature an endearing roast of “Papa Carr” as the entertainment for the evening.

Net proceeds will benefit The ChadTough Foundation with half being granted to Michigan Medicine’s Pediatric Brain Tumor Research Initiative.

Why We’re Raising Money

As a parent of a child with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) it’s hard to describe the bewilderment and anger you feel when you are told the standard of care for DIPG has not changed in over 40 years.

Thankfully, that is starting to change.

With the help of incredible doctors and researchers around the world — many coming together at Michigan Medicine — more and more information is being gathered about this lethal tumor taking the lives of our precious children.

On Sept. 14, 2017, Michigan Medicine released a paper detailing the results of Chad’s tumor analysis, which revealed an important finding previously unknown. That analysis — fully funded by ChadTough — wouldn’t have been possible without events like this.
