Dear 4H family and friends This past April Karl and Kim Allen were preparing to celebrate their granddaughter's birthday when life tossed them a curveball. Their grandson Callen was taken to Children's Mercy Hospital first in Overland Park then downtown where he remained for several weeks battling a disease called HUS. Many of you followed them on the Caring Bridge website and other means of media. All prayers were answered and he is home now and doing much better. While his parents Charles and Jessica Brunker have insurance to cover the major items of this intensive stay and care, many other bills and expenses that are associated with his ongoing recovery remain. Their will be more to come. We have joined with others to host a benefit auction and dinner for them on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the Johnson County fair grounds. The auction will start at 4:00 in the afternoon with a potluck dinner to follow about 6:00. We will have roast pig from Bichelmeyer's and we are asking everyone to bring a covered dish and/or dessert. If you have an item you would be willing to donate for the auction please contact Dave at 913-244-1011 or Wendy at 913-206-4181 so we can prepare a sale bill of the items to be in the auction.
