Lots:
1 - "One Summer’s Ride" - Rose Riley From the artist: The style is derived from a paper stained-glass craft I learned decades ago. Scenes are inspired by family rides, and a story I entered into our library’s Write Stuff contest this year. I hope viewers become the unseen rider at the canvas’ edge: be curious, keep learning, and try new activities…maybe even paint a banner for Watertown’s Main Street Program! Rose Riley also added: "Thanks to Watertown Public Library, 'One Summer's Ride' banner will include a booklet of the library's 2020 Write Stuff Contest winners' entries. Rose's short story, "One Summers's Ride", took third place in the adult category and was the inspiration for her banner's topic. These works were based on one of her Wisconsin childhood memories.

2 - "I Scream For Jellyfish" - Isabella & Simeon Bruce I chose an ice cream theme because I thought it would be fun and we go out for ice cream a lot in the summer. I used shading and blending. I chose jellyfish because I really like sea life and they are beautiful!

3 - "Invierno en Mexico" - Kris Mason To experience the Monarch’s wintering in Mexico would be a dream come true. For the fortunate Mexican frog, his permanent home is Mexico. Acrylics.

4 - "Pollination" - Kelly Zook Pollination is important. Bees help with flowers and make honey.

5 - "In My Dreams" - Kelly Conley As a nature lover, it is fun to look at things from another’s point of view. I was able to do this while imitating the painting style of two artists; Claude Monet and Susan Hale. In doing this exploration, I began seeing things in a very different way and learned some new techniques in painting.

6 - "The Journey" - Haley Steggall Don’t get “Tangled” up in your fears, stand tall and be “Brave”!

7 - "All Roads Lead to Home" - Jessica “Jess” Nessler I’m an amateur artist who specializes in smaller canvas pieces. I traditionally use pens, pencils, and sharpies, but decided to try out my spray painting skills on this banner. I’m so happy with “All Roads Lead to Home.” and hope others enjoy the hometown pride!

8 - "The Dairy Cow" - Carleen Zook I like to see cows out in their pastures, they seem content just to hang out.

9 - "Wing Man" - Robert Marchant Inspired by Famous Local Haiku: Waterfoul take wing Morning in the town of Shields Will dinner be duck or goose?

10 - "Views From The Park" - by Marquardt Village... by Marquardt Village, Bruce Bigari, Gerald & Alice Geisthardt, Shirley Oestreich A collaborative effort by independent living residents to create the beauty of Riverside Park and surrounding areas. Techniques for some of the painting styles were taught by Ella Ison.

11 - "Transport to a New World" - Denali Bruce Weather it’s an art piece, a good book, or the perfect song, sometimes a story sparks our imagination so much that it is as if we are taken to a new world, a new perspective. People can go places they have never gone and do things they have never done before just by jumping into a story and letting their imagination run free.

12 - "Natures’ Best" - Ramona Hackbarth I chose two landscapes again this year: the mountain scene because I like to do flowers, and pink and purple are my favorite colors. The waterfall was intriguing because water and rocks are always challenging.

13 - "Leaves and Petals" - Ava & Mia Ashenfelter Mia - I was inspired to paint poppies by my Grandpa. He was in the American Legion, and every year he distributed poppies to honor military service members, Ava - I was inspired to paint ginko leaves, because I like Art & Crafts motifs.

14 - "Up or Down" - Judy Meschke It all depends on the weather. Whether you can go up into the sky or if the sky will come down in the form of rain.

15 - "Daisy Field/Lighthouse in the Dark" -Faith School by Faith School Students The children so enjoyed creating and painting the Daisy Field and Lighthouse. Each child chose white or yellow and made a daisy flower using one finger. Then we thought of a lighthouse and wanted to make it in the nighttime! We had a lot of fun! We are very Thankful for Art on Main 2020 and an opportunity to play a part. We all Hope to place a Smile on each person who passes by!

16 - "Go Badgers!" - Varla Bishop Some of my best memories are going to the Badger football games. Seeing old friends, getting a hot dog and a Coke and watching the game.

17 - "Good “Old Fashioned” Fun at Drafty Cellar" by Stacy Radtke I was inspired by the microcosm of Watertown’s community seen in a single business. Local flavors, dedicated people, family fun, welcoming atmosphere, attention to detail, unique offerings, and genuine hospitality. Everyone enjoys pinball and arcade games - and everyone enjoys The Drafty Cellar!

18 - "Elks" - Alison Meschke I enjoy painting animals, I chose elks to show my appreciation to the Elks Lodge for providing a great venue for the banner auction.

19 - "Built on Irish Faith" - Geoffrey Butz St. Bernard’s was the first church in Watertown and built by Irish immigrants. Joe Darcey was a devoted parishioner who dedicated his life to this church and the Watertown community, he will be always loved and missed.

22 - "Who You Gonna Call?" - Sue Armstrong Once again, I was inspired by the Drafty Cellar and their love of superheroes. Ghost Busters is a favorite movie of the owners, and I was immediately drawn to the challenge of creating Aquaman in his “splendor.”

23 - "Pigs and a Bee" - Jeanine Mason Acrylic. My Grandfather’s favorite farm animals were the pigs. He didn’t let us play with them; maybe he didn’t want us to become attached to them as they were to be sold.

25 - "Springtime" - Evelyn Marchant Painting these bright colors and spring-like designs brightened my mood while school was closed and made my time home a lot more enjoyable. The flowers and sunshine kept me hopful for spring!

26 - "Garden Beauties" - Karin Reszynski Every summer I wait in anticipation for the flowers to bloom in my flower beds. What I am sharing here is just a glimpse of the beauty that is my garden.

27 - "Good Morning Watertown" - Gail Bartels Colorful roosters are featured on both sides. My inspiration was we all need to greet each and every day with a new positive outlook.

28 - "A Matter of Perspective" - Aimee Steggall This banner represents the different avenues knowledge has given to different people. One side showing the never ending resource of knowledge found in books and study, whereas the opposite side demonstrates the experience and knowledge gained in exploration and discovery. The children both represent the most beautiful, innocent and open chanel knowledge is perceived by.

29 - "Courage to Soar" - Noah Smith In the times of 2020, the definition of freedom we once knew, seems to have changed. Through these unprecedented times - this piece represents having the courage to soar, to hope, to reach higher than you thought you could, to remain united, and together - to remain strong. Sometimes, we need to see things from a higher perspective.

30 - "Desert Life" - Alex Smith I love the time I’ve spent in the Mojave Desert around Las Vegas, and wanted to bring a little of that here to share. To that end, I painted some common plants including prickly pear and pomegranate, which fare well out there, and a red fox, which is an animal common to the area. The mountains pictured are the nearby Spring Mountains.

34 - "Lessons of Nature" - Riley Kappell Nature has many colors, patterns, and lessons within it. I wanted to bring these elements to Main Steet.

35 - "Impactful" - Jessica Lensmire This banner was inspired by the two artists, Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat, as they made up an iconic artistic partnership back in the 1980's. I took Warhol's "Gold Marilyn Monroe" and his "Campbell's Soup Cans" pieces and combined them with the artist's face centered in the middle. For the other side of the banner I took Basquiat, and was inspired by his piece "Irony of the Negro Policeman.” I softened his aggressive style with my personal expression, with which I referenced his roots of starting art with his "Samo" tag. The idea for this banner was to bring more modern artistic ideas to the streets of Watertown.

36 - "Dairy Strong and Stained Glass Fun" by Olivia, Lily, and Emma Uttech We used painters tape, and painted over the tape to get the white lines.

37 - "A Year of Growth and Discovery; Always Forward... "A Year of Growth and Discovery; Always Forward, Never Back" by Marquardt Health Center, Residents & Staff We wanted to paint things in nature that delight us to look at. A staff member presented us with a design of tulips, a butterfly and a lady bug. Just what we were thinking of! Then a resident sketched a turtle pulling himself out of the water, pushing aside cattails. The resident explained that turtles always go forward and never look backward. Our story is one of perseverance and hope.

41 - "Bon Appetit" - Eryn and Lily Bruce I painted the Donut Worry, Be Happy because I wanted to spread happy vibes and sprinkles during this pandemic. I chose cookies because it went well with my sister’s Donut theme. It was fun painting all the different kinds of cookies. My favorite is the animal cookie!

42 - "Music Is Life" - Myranda Bischoff Music is life, that’s why our hearts have beats. Music plays an important part in our lives. We can express our feelings and emotions through music. Music is the best therapy. Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.
