Constructed in 1766, a decade before the Declaration of Independence was signed, this attractive stone residence, which once served as a general store for nearly a century, also entertained the likes of several high- ranking folks within the political arena. William Wallace, who for many years served as President Abraham Lincoln’s personal physician, both in the White House and reportedly prior to Lincoln’s presidency, was raised in this house. Wallace also went on to help establish the West Reading hospital.
