Renee was the daughter of Hazel Boyd Mitchell also deceased. Her parents & grandparents lived their life in this community farming and ran a local country store at Boyd's Crossing and Old US Hwy 29 in Pelham N.C. Renee's mother Mrs Hazel, "Deanie" as she was known to her friends spent a lifetime collecting and accumilating a wide range of antiques. She had a passion for collecting everything from the past and didn't throw much of anything away. She found a use for everything as you will see. She even built cabins and sheds to decorate and display many of her treasures when she would invite friends and family over for holiday get togethers and ice cream socials. She was featured muiltiple times in magazines such as Country Living Country Accent, Nashville Network, newspapers, and featured on local TV show "Roy's Folks". Local artist Mel Steele also painted a series on the Boyd farm which were popular prints featuring Hazel's cabins, quilts and antiques and was used on the cover of a local telephone book. She was recognized many times for her passion for preserving & sharing so much from the past. She was well known and loved by many and we are honored that Funwood Auctions was chosen to handle the estate.
