ABOUT FRIENDS IN DEED

Friends In Deed 
was founded in 1983 to provide a bridge between congregations in Washtenaw County and low-income families with unmet emergency needs. These days over 75 volunteers from forty-seven area congregations help Friends In Deed answer requests for help. 

Over the years, Friends In Deed has established several categories of assistance:

  • Furniture/Beds
  • Prescriptions and Medical Needs
  • Prevention of Utility Shut Off
  • Help With Transportation Needs

Other types of assistance are considered on a case-by-case basis; but even if Friends In Deed can’t help directly, we can provide information and referrals to other organizations and agencies in the county. To that end, we maintain a Resource Guide to Community Services and a Guide to Resources for Free or Low-Cost Clothing, Household, and Medical Items:
