Marion Township Heritage Days & Auction
June 7th

HOWELL, MICHIGAN

STEAM ENGINE SHOW * ANTIQUE CAR SHOW * PEDDLERS MARKET * MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT * LIVE AUCTION (Saturday Only) * FOOD & GREAT WHOLESOME FAMILY FUN!

American Eagle Auction & Appraisal Company is pleased to once again be a part of the 2014 Marion Township Heritage Days festival on Saturday, June 7th.
Last year, hundreds of auction enthusiasts and first time auction attendees witnessed and participated as an auction buyer for the first time.

The Marion Township Heritage Days and a live auction is a perfect match considering that auctions are one of the world’s oldest professions!

AUCTIONS. AN AMERICAN HERITAGE - Did you know that auctions date all the way back to the Roman Empire in 500 B.C.?   Auctions  in America date back to the Pilgrims’ arrival on the Eastern Shores in the 1600’s and grew in popularity during colonization with the sale of crops, imports, clapboard, livestock, tools, tobacco, slaves and even entire farms.

During the Civil War era, auctioneers were commonly referred to as “Colonel” and even today, auctioneers are still referred to as Colonel especially in the southern states.    Where this all started was an auctioneer was used to sell Civil War surplus.   However, only officers of the Colonel rank could conduct them, spawning the use of the term ‘Colonel’.

Auctioneer Mike Brandly tells the historical narrative that, “As the Civil War progressed, many troop battalions make a practice of seizing property of land owners and merchants as they marched.  Contraband would be collected and carried to a favorable area, and then the Colonel or commanding officer would sell the goods at public auction.  Even after the Civil War, military Colonels traveled to sell surplus goods and seized goods. Auctioneers followed some of the same trails and dressed similar to army Colonels to such an extent that the public began to recognize auctioneers as Colonel.

AN OPPORTNITY. WHY YOU SHOULD SELL AT THE HERITAGE DAYS AUCTION? In short, Exposure. Exposure. Exposure! Based on last years auction results, the Marion Township Heritage Days Auction was wildly successful!  This is due in part to the popularity of this long standing community event.   The auction is aggressively promoted where American Eagle Auction & Appraisal Company saturates the market with a national advertising campaign which enables buyers from all over the world the opportunity to bid on your items being offered at public auction!

Our company has won over 35 MAA auction advertising and marketing awards over the years including 2005 Michigan Auction of the Year!  Your merchandise will be featured in print advertising in auction publications, local newspaper advertising, multiple websites including our top ranked website, social media and the list goes on and on.    No other venue will picture and promote YOUR items to a larger audience.
