Detroit Area Chefs Feed the Need Announces Inaugural Benefit Event on Saturday, March 17, 2012, Featuring Top Detroit Restaurants and Battling Sommeliers

Detroit’s hottest chefs, sommeliers, and restaurants come together to support The Detroit Area Chefs Feed the Need at the inaugural fundraiser for the anti-hunger organization. Emceed by special guest Mickey Bakst of the Charleston Grill (formerly of Detroit’s own Tribute), the event begins with a silent auction, cocktails, and passed hors d’oeuvres from Roma Café, Brio, Bagger Dave's, and Phoenicia.

Guests will then enjoy a three-course dinner prepared by Matt Prentice of Matt Prentice Restaurant Group, Daniel Campbell of tallulah wine bar & bistro and bellapiatti, and Brian Polycn of Forest Grill. A live auction will feature experiential packages such as upscale weekend getaways to Charleston and Chicago; a behind-the-scenes Detroit Zoo tour and luncheon; a private cocktail lesson and dinner for eight at tallulah; and many more.

Throughout the evening, a “Somm SLAM” brings a lively sense of competition, as four of Michigan’s best sommeliers go head-to-head to create the best wine pairings for each course served. Sommelier contestants include Amanda Danielson of Trattoria Stella, Traverse City; Antoine Przekop, of tallulah wine bar & bistro and bellapiatti in Birmingham; Master Sommelier Madeline Triffon of Plum Markets, and Mick Descamps of Saltwater and Bourbon Steak in downtown Detroit.
