STARS-kids is a non-profit organization that raises awareness and funds for research to advance shunt technology and its effect on the brain.  A shunt is a valve with catheter tubing that is surgically implanted in the brain or spine that allows for drainage of the cerebrospinal fluid from the brain or spine to another location of the body.
