A remarkable collection of historical artifacts and vintage household items takes center stage in this auction. Leading the offerings is a contemporary Indigenous art sculpture by Mark Swazo-Hinds (1959-2023), a Tesuque Pueblo figure masterfully carved from stone and adorned with feathers, horn, leather, and semiprecious pendants, bearing the artist's signature.

The auction features a significant numismatic collection, including rare Continental currency from 1775 Annapolis, Maryland. International currency collectors will find Italian Lire from 1939 and 1942, French francs and centimes from the 1920s and 1930s, including seated Mercury designs, along with Tunisian francs and Egyptian coins. Historical memorabilia includes a 1936 Democratic National Convention ticket from Philadelphia's Franklin Field and 1953 United States Jefferson two-dollar bills.
Vintage household items showcase the evolution of domestic technology. A Pelouze Superb Computing scale combines cast iron craftsmanship with brass details, while a collection of historical irons includes specimens from A.J. Lindermann and Hoverson Co. These sad iron heaters feature mica windows, representing early 20th-century innovation. A Universal stove/heater for sad irons with double wicks adds to the historical narrative of domestic technology.
Buyer’s Premium: 23%
Kitchen equipment enthusiasts will appreciate a Majestic No. 40 hand-crank tabletop dough mixer and a Meyers, PA antique fruit press. A vintage pasta maker demonstrates industrial design with its cast iron base, interchangeable steel cutting rollers in five widths, and wooden flat roller. The auction also includes delicate paper ephemera, featuring honeycomb Valentine cards, vintage Christmas cards, and personal correspondence from the 1930s. A marriage certificate from the same era adds historical context to this collection of personal artifacts.
Military history collectors will find WWII discharge patches and various military pins. The mix of domestic, military, and monetary artifacts provides insight into American life across different eras, from Colonial currency to mid-century household innovations. |
