In 2002, the Alaska Wildlife Troopers had the P/V Enforcer built to fulfill the needs of a larger class vessel in Southeast Alaska. The vessel was designed to allow Troopers to patrol commercial fishing districts and inspect various gear types, including pulling and inspecting commercial and subsistence pot gear used in crab and ground fish fisheries. The vessel would house the Troopers and civilian crew on board, giving them a base of operations for hunting and fishing patrols, search and rescue missions, emergencies, and visits to various communities for enforcement or public relations reasons. Troopers would utilize the skiff onboard to patrol areas where the larger vessel could not go and contact resource users more easily. The Enforcer allowed the Troopers to be able to work away from port for longer periods of time, giving them the ability to patrol more remote areas for enforcement patrols and support other agencies 35 if needed for research or various patrol programs.

The vessel was built in Texas and during the initial launch, the boat did sustain some damage when dropped by the company launching the vessel, which was repaired before going into service in 2005. In 2007, The vessel was widened 5’ 11” to improve stability. This vessel was used by Alaska Wildlife Trooper (AWT) for missions, throughout Southeast Alaska until October 2022. From 2008- 2022, the ENFORCER completed four-yard periods. In October 2022, the vessel was surveyed to determine how cost effective it would be to put the boat through a “Mid-Life” overhaul or build a new class of vessel to meet current and future mission requirements. It was concluded that construction of a new vessel meeting those requirements would be more beneficial. Copies of the survey and all other inspection reports are available upon request. It is highly recommended to inspect the property prior to placing a bid. Inspection of the vessel is by appointment only. The ENFORCER is moored in Auke Bay, minutes north of Juneau AK.
