Diabetes Canada�s Manitoba camping tradition began 64 years ago and since that time, the camp program has grown extensively! The focus has been to provide children living with type 1 diabetes the opportunity to enjoy an authentic camp experience in a medically accommodating environment, with a dedicated team of professionals. Campers get the chance to meet and interact with other children and staff living with type 1 diabetes, and many of these relationships develop into lifelong friendships with others facing similar challenges. The kids gain independence in managing their diabetes, feel empowered to continue the healthy practices they learn at camp, and know that they are not alone in living with type 1 diabetes.
