It is a room- sized structure (roughly 10’ wide x 10’ deep x 8’ high) with walls that are image display surfaces. Computer workstations with powerful graphics hardware generate images that are displayed on the walls by projectors mounted behind them. A user standing inside the CAVE sees the images and is immersed in a virtual environment created by the system. Hand-held and held-mounted devices allow a user to manipulate the virtual environment. Due to the size of the CAVE we recommend bidders come to examine it before bidding so they can determine how best to remove the system. It should be noted that the last time the system was actively used was 5 years ago but it has been powered up recently and the system still runs on Windows 7. Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE) is a walk-in immersive virtual environment display system.

It is a room- sized structure (roughly 10’ wide x 10’ deep x 8’ high) with walls that are image display surfaces.

Computer workstations with powerful graphics hardware generate images that are displayed on the walls by projectors mounted behind them. A user standing inside the CAVE sees the images and is immersed in a virtual environment created by the system. Hand-held and held-mounted devices allow a user to manipulate the virtual environment.
