Join us all three days for this eclectic Estate Auciton of The Greg Lueckenhoff Estate at 1673 Maine street in Historic Quincy, Il. Day 1 Saturday April 6th at 10 a.m. SOLD!
Day 2 Saturday April 27th at 10 a.m. Day3 : Monday June 3rd at 4:00 p.m. Mr. Greg Lueckenhoff was an extensive collector with many varied tastes. He enjoyed collecting many different items, such as paperweights, jewelry caskets, elegant glassware, compotes, Vintage AL CAPONE Gambling Table This 10’ 6” x 4’6” gambling table was said to have been one that Al Capone gambled on in the 1920s. He was in Quincy many times during those years with other gangster figures. The building that he supposedly gambled at was at 126 N. 5thin Quincy and had three floors above the main floor. In the center was a sky light and garden room that extended all the way up to the roof – and it was originally surrounded by the apartments. The windows were covered at the roof so that no light would show from the outside when the “gamblers” were inside the building. There was a peep hole and buzzer at the top of the stairs on the second floor for access into the building. While there is no provenance on the table the story seems to pan out with the “evidence” of the table there and the alterations to the windows. This wonderful piece of history does have some staining and minor tears to the canvas material from age and storage. The wording appears to be hand painted. It is attached to heavy wainscot material. A neat piece for any gaming collector. |
