Regarding reserves: Our goal is help sellers sell quickly and efficiently to ready buyers. We believe that auctions are one of the best ways to help achieve this goal. We understand that reserves dampen the enthusiasm to make a bid. That is why we are reluctant to put reserves on lots. Having said that, there are limited situations where you will find a reserve and for the sake of openness they are: High value lots that have been consigned for sale through Woodhill Auctions are evaluated to establish a replacement value. If the item is of significant value, a reserve price may have been discussed with the seller. Typically this reserve is set at a fraction (1/10 to 1/4) of the replacement value. That is really low! Woodhill Auctions does not accept consignments where the seller has unrealistic expectations of the selling price. Reserves for some lots are established based on the recyclable value of the precious metal.
