This is an Amazing Remington Replica with defined detail. This sculpture sat in a casino in Atlantic City. Numbered (see pics) as # 87 of 100. Rattlesnake Sculpture by Frederic Remington depicts a cowboy riding a bucking horse. His left hand tightly grips the reigns, while his right hand holds his trusty hat to his head. One of the original 22 inch tall "Rattlesnake" sculptures sold in 2014 at auction for $380,250. Remington first sculpted "The Rattlesnake" in 1904 and it is considered one of his best sculptures, showing the fluid movement of the bucking horse and rider. This model presented a challenge to show the horse up on two legs twisting and recoiling from the dangerous snake at its feet. The cowboy is equally startled and is almost caught off balance, grabbing his hat while trying to stay on his horse.

Remington worked closely with Riccardo Bertelli, the head of the Roman Bronze Works foundry on this model and sent a Christmas card with a sketch of this model and asked "Can you cast him?" to which Bertelli replied "Do you think I am one of the Wright brothers?" Rattlesnake Sculpture by Frederic Remington depicts a cowboy riding a bucking horse.

Remingtons 14th sculpture is a remarkable composition because the horse is balancing on one front leg which presented a challenge to show in a bronze. Remington worked closely with Riccardo Bertelli, the head of the Roman Bronze Works foundry on this model and sent a Christmas card with a sketch of this model and asked "Can you cast him?" to which Bertelli replied "Do you think I am one of the Wright brothers?" The foundry was able to use their lost wax casting technique to cast this complicated work, in which the horse and rider are balanced on one front hoof in suspended animation. Quality detail.
