Jerry Burnell [Jerry's Sport Shop] started his sports shop in 1975 when he retired for the Navy. He grew up in Maine hunting, fishing, camping and enjoying the great outdoors. His dream was to share his love of the outdoors, his knowledge and start a business to do so. He became a Master Registered Maine Guide, gun saftey instructor, hunter safety instructor, master ammuntion reloader, gunsmith and all around go to guy for anything outdoors.

    Originally located in Sebago on Douglass Hill, Jerry and his family moved back to his home town of Denmark, Maine in 1986 where he vastly expanded his business. He started carrying live bait, worms, boating items, clothing and even some jewlery for the ladies that would visit. If you needed it, Jerry had it and if he didn't have it in stock he would special order it. Many people enjoyed his vast collection of animal mounts he displayed in his shop. Everything from a bobcat, bear, minks, coyote, fox, birds of all types, deer, various types of fish and even a flying squirrel.

    He loved to spend hours talking to customers and educating people on what was best for fishing, hunting, reloading and everything in between. Jerry attempted to close his shop after his wife Pat retired from her job in 2008 but his love of the buisness was to great and he continued to run it until his passing in December 2016.
