Listing Information

***ONLINE ONLY***Welcome to the art collection of Vivian Fishbone from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Her paintings seek to make visible concepts and emotions that lack a tangible form. She achieves this through her careful selection of color, texture, and the size and shape of the canvas itself. Light is a central focus in her work, and she strives to capture and preserve it. Many of her pieces seem to radiate with an inner glow, created through multiple layers of translucent pigments. A recurring theme in her work is "Secrets," where she may obscure the obvious or camouflage certain elements, often allowing something to emerge from within the layers. The details are left open to interpretation, with the viewer’s perception shifting each time they engage with the painting. Sometimes, the title offers a clue.

Primarily abstract, her work occasionally veers into figurative painting, though she finds little interest in landscapes, feeling they are best represented in photography. Her paintings are typically created with acrylics on canvas, wood, or paper. She has also produced a significant body of computer-generated collage work on large canvases and paper, many of which are overpainted with acrylics, blending media in a multimedia approach. She believes that good art emerges from three sources: innate creativity, unconventional ways of seeing, and the expression of personal emotion—elements she strives to incorporate into her own work.
