On the bottom left hand corner is the edition number 17/150. Surrealism drawing shows a mans head covered with a machine metal helmet. A door opens to expose a part of the mans face while the other half is enclosed by the metal and screws. Bobst was born in Boston although he is an internationally acclaimed artist, known in Paris, London,and Munich. 1009

Her face expression is worrisome while a whirl of lines dance above her head and a pink ribbon points up into the natural paper sky. He started to paint at the Centre d’Art in 1959. Early in his career he won a painting competition held by the Asssociation des Dames du Corps Diplomatique. He was one of the last painters to add a mural to the walls of the Episcopal Cathedral Sainte Trinite in Port-au-Prince. Now deceased, Martinez colorful work were part of the first selections of Haitian art that were sold in Parke Bernet Galleries and Sothebys to raise funds for the construction of the Centre d'Art which opened on May 22, 1969. Raoul Dufy 1877-1953, Untitled Boats Medium: Lithograph (watercolor on paper) Dimensions: 21.25 x 27.34 in; 30.5 x 36.5 in Condition: Excellent Additional Information: Raoul Dufy 3 June 1877 – 23 March 1953) was a French Fauvist painter, brother of Jean Dufy. He developed a colorful, decorative style that became fashionable for designs of ceramics and textiles, as well as decorative schemes for public buildings. He is noted for scenes of open-air social events. He was also a draftsman, printmaker, book illustrator, scenic designer, a designer of furniture, and a planner of public spaces. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, Dufy exhibited at the annual Salon des Tuileries in Paris. By 1950, his hands were struck with rheumatoid arthritis and his ability to paint diminished, as he had to fasten the brush to his hand. In April he went to Boston to undergo an experimental treatment with cortisone and corticotropin, based on the work of Philip S. Hench. It proved successful, and some of his next works were dedicated to the doctors and researchers in the United States.[4][5] In 1952 he received the grand prize for painting in the 26th Venice Biennale. Dufy died at Forcalquier, France, on 23 March 1953, of intestinal bleeding, which was a likely result of his continuous treatment. He was buried near Matisse in the Cimiez Monastery Cemetery in Cimiez, a suburb of the city of Nice. he used interesting colors to help establish the variation of movement within his paintings (Source: Wikepedia) 1099

While never attaining the same level of fame as his contemporaries, Walkowitz' close relationship with the 291 Gallery and Alfred Stieglitz placed him at the center of the modernist movement. The man is placed behind the transparent females body. he shown jumping in the air with perfect form. You can see his energy, muscles, and veins throughout his body and feet. The female dancer is on point in an attitude position while arching her back and holding her arms in 3rd position. At the bottom of the piece there is a green border that fades as it moves up the print which starts to frame the main dancers. Below there sre the same dancers repeated although the viewer can only see the tops of their bodies. The detail is unfinished as if shadowing the dancers. 1150

Shahn was born in Kaunas, Lithuania, then part of the Russian Empire, to Jewish parents Joshua Hessel and Gittel (Lieberman) Shan.[1] His father was exiled to Siberia for possible revolutionary activities in 1902, at which point Shahn, his mother, and two younger siblings moved to Vilkomir (Ukmergė). In 1906, the family immigrated to the United States where they rejoined Hessel, a carpenter, who had fled Siberia and emigrated to the US by way of South Africa.[1] They settled in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, New York, where two more siblings were born. His younger brother drowned at age 17.[2] Shahn began his path to becoming an artist in New York, where he was first trained as a lithographer. Shahn's early experiences with lithography and graphic design is apparent in his later prints and paintings which often include the combination of text and image. Shahn's primary medium was egg tempera, popular among social realists. Although Shahn attended New York University as a biology student in 1919, he went on to pursue art at City College in 1921 and then at the National Academy of Design. After his marriage to Tillie Goldstein in 1924, the two traveled through North Africa and then to Europe, where he made "the traditional artist pilgrimage."[3] There he studied great European artists such as Henri Matisse, Raoul Dufy, Georges Rouault, Pablo Picasso and Paul Klee. Contemporaries who would make a profound impact on Shahn's work and career include artists Walker Evans, Diego Rivera and Jean Charlot.[3] Shahn was dissatisfied with the work inspired by his travels, claiming that the pieces were unoriginal.[3] Shahn eventually outgrew his pursuit of European modern art, and redirected his efforts toward a realist style which he used to contribute to social dialogue.[4] The twenty-three gouache paintings of the trials of Sacco and Vanzetti communicated the political concerns of his time, rejecting academic prescriptions for subject matter. The Passion of Sacco and Vanzetti was exhibited in 1932 and received acclaim from both the public and critics. This series gave Shahn the confidence to cultivate his personal style, regardless of society’s art standards.[5] 3292
