Listing Information

This auction offers a NEVER INSTALLED/UNTRIMMED complete 32-panel set of Zuber Wallpaper "The Views of North America". It has been unrolled for photoing purposes for this auction only. Please read the FULL description to learn how we came about this set and a third generation professional wallpaper installer who assisted with the listing and can also install this for the buyer if you need recommendations.

As originally, the panoramic scenery "The views of North America" is still printed today "à la planche" with the 1690 antique woodblocks, carved in 1834 by the manufactury workers.

These boards are classified as Historical Monuments by the Ministry of Culture and are part of the French heritage.

The Zuber Manufactory is the last in the world to produce panoramic sceneries with woodblocks.

The perpetuation of this printing technique and the use of antique materials give Zuber's panoramic sceneries the status of a true work of art.

Please visit the Zuber website to learn more about them:
https://www.zuber.fr/en

The story behind the set we are offering and why it is unused:
The set that was already installed in the dining room in photos 154-190 sustained some water damaged. Insurance was originally going to replace the damaged wallpaper with this new set. However, it was decided the damaged wallpaper could be professionally restored and insurance did not want the unused set back. So we have to offer this unused/untrimmed set.

We do have a great recommendation for a professional installer who is willing to travel:
Brian Atchley is a third generation paperhanger based in Louisville, KY. He specializes in high-end residential work, scenic murals, historic installation, and other fine wallpapers.
Brian originally installed and restored the set that is currently still in the dining room photoed in this listing so he has good experience with this exact set.
Please visit his website to learn more about him, photos of his original installation and restoration, and contact information below:
http://brianwallpaper.com/zuber-restoration-louisville-grid

Condition:
Brian Atchley assisted in the entire process of setting up for this auction. Back cloths and gloves were used throughout the entire process and changed out when necessary. Nothing but extreme care was taken when handling this set. This is unused and untrimmed and still rolled as it originally came. It was specifically unrolled for photos only. We inspected each panel and everything appears to be in excellent condition. In the sky, we did find 2 small marks on one panel, depending on your installation needs, this spot may even be trimmed off. It's always possible there may be other very minor sky marks but we inspected each panel very carefully. Please refer to photos for your judgement on condition. Because this was specifically unrolled for photos only and was rolled back to its original state immediately, there will be no inspection because we do not want to be unrolling this set multiple times because of its fragility.

There is a Reserve with a low starting bid of $9,000. Only forms of payment to be accepted in this auction is certified check or wire transfer. The winning bidder will be contacted the day after auction closes to discuss payment and pickup/shipping arrangements.

For any other inquires, please contact Matt Woods at matt@wardlowauc.com

What a fantastic opportunity to own and decorate with this original Zuber set. Thank you all for visiting!
