Directions: From the I-80/IL-47 interchange (exit 112) in Morris, head North 1-1/4 miles on IL-47 to the Fairgrounds. Plenty of close parking.

ALL BUYERS WELCOME!! Individuals-Families-Businesses-Organizations.

4-H Livestock Auction immediately following the Pork Chop BBQ @ 7:00 p.m. The Grundy County 4-H Fair auction is the culmination of a year of hard work and dedication by these young entrepreneurs. Through these projects, 4-Hers learn numerous valuable life skills and lessons, including the value of time management skills to meet their goals; the importance of managing their own financial resources; making business decisions; proper animal care; livestock production practices; and the value of leadership, teamwork, good sportsmanship and competition. By going to the 4-H Livestock Auction you not only support your local community, but you also are investing in some of the future top professionals and leaders!

As in 2020, we have been forced to address various events at the Grundy County 4-H Fair. Decisions for the design of the 4-H Fair had to be made with the Phase 4 Covid-19 restrictions in mind. We certainly wish we knew then about the relaxed restrictions outlined in June. Changes were made to livestock show schedules, the amount of time livestock will be present on the fairgrounds and the Livestock Auction.

While we will have a “normal” Livestock Auction at the usual time (7:00pm Sunday evening, July 25, 2021), no livestock will be present at the Auction. Livestock will be arriving just in time to show and leaving immediately at the conclusion of their respective exhibition. At the Auction, 4-H youth will pass through the ring as photos are shown of their animals. We hope to have the Auction in the Pavilion instead of the Sheep Barn Show Arena. New this year will be a Hospitality Dessert Bar for Bidders/Buyers in conjunction with Bidder Registration. It is planned to be held in the Sheep Show Arena.

The following bullet points provide Auction details:

– No live animals will be available for take-home or processing purposes through the Auction.
– Bidding will be conducted as usual on a per pound basis for cattle, swine and sheep and on a per head basis for goats, poultry, and rabbits.
– Successful bidders will be responsible to pay only the difference between their bid and a “floor price” as determined and published at the Auction by the Auction Committee for cattle, swine and sheep.
– The full “per head” cost will be paid for goats, poultry and rabbits (no “floor price will be established).
– You may contact 4-H’ers privately to negotiate the purchase of cattle, swine and sheep or transfer of the purchased goat, poultry or rabbit.
– There will be no transportation provided through the Auction to Chenoa Locker in 2021. If you make arrangements to privately purchase an animal for processing, you will also be responsible to make private arrangements with the processing plant of your choice.
– In direct contrast to live animals; beef, swine and lamb carcasses will be sold and you will be required to either take possession of the carcass or donate it to the Cut Meat Auction held at Grundy County Corn Fest in September. Money raised in the Cut Meat Auction supports the general Grundy County 4-H program. Successful buyers will pay the live weight price per pound plus processing and cutting fees. Chenoa Locker must be contacted on Monday, July 26th with cutting instructions or they will use their standard cutting protocol.

If you have questions, you may contact any member of the Auction Committee (Steve Jorstad, Bill Chapin, Dave Siedentop, Eric Baudino, Austin Granby, Ron Frye, Mike Lowery, Doreen Harlow, Erik Olson or Luke Brockman)
